1. Unbox your Ledger device
Check the box contents carefully. You should see the Ledger device, USB cable, recovery sheets, and instructions. Ensure your box is sealed and comes directly from Ledger or an authorized reseller.
2. Visit Ledger.com/Start®
Always type the official URL directly into your browser: Ledger.com/Start®. Never trust links from emails or messages to avoid phishing attempts.
3. Download Ledger Live
Choose Ledger Live for Windows, macOS, or Linux. This is the official app that connects to your Ledger hardware and helps manage your crypto safely.
4. Initialize your device
Follow on-screen instructions to set a PIN code. The device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. Write it down securely and never share it with anyone. Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase.
5. Add crypto accounts
Use Ledger Live to add accounts for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many other supported assets. Balances and transactions are displayed instantly while private keys stay safely offline.
6. Stay secure
Regularly update firmware and the Ledger Live app. Enable advanced security options and learn best practices from the official knowledge base.
